On Saturday September 14th the participants will arrive at the base camp at Vlagheide for the more static part of the OMG2024 event. Our base camp is located next to Schijndel on what was once Dropzone A, the location where the 2nd and 3rd battalion of the 501st Parachute Infantry landed on September 17th, 1944. After Operation Market Garden ended the front lines were static in this area until the beginnen of operation Colin on the night of October 22nd. Later on an Airfield, B85 Schijndel, was built just to the north-west of our base camp. A very historic location! Here you can have a close look at the vehicles over the week and in addition, here will be explained in an educational way on the basis of displays how things went about in the war in your own environment and how our liberators lived and worked in 1944. Not only soldiers life in or near the front line area will be displayed here. To make combat possible you need a number of disciplines behind the lines, we will concentrate on these subjects. Think of logistics, fuel depot, mobile workshops, engineers, field kitchen, signals, field hospital etc.
